Prez Akufo Addo joins Nananom to Celebrate Akwasidae

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Sunday, January 10, 2021, joined the traditional leadership of the Kumasi/Asanteman Council to celebrate the first Akwasidae festival, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The President earlier attended a mass service at the Saint Cyprian’s Anglican Cathedral at Bompata, in the company of His Royal Majesty, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

President Akufo Addo was accompanied by the Agric Minister Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie, Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah, Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party Bernard Antwi Boasiako, and the former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyapong.

Addressing a durbar, President Akufo Addo stressed that his visit to the Manhyia Palace was to wish the Asante monarch, a happy new year and also commend the people in the region for the honour done him in the 2020 general elections.

He also promised that the Ashanti region will get its fair share of the national cake in his second term of governance.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo further stressed that the outcome of the elections was an indication that Ghanaians want politicians to work in harmony for the nation’s progress.

The Akwasidae festival, celebrated by the people of Asante, every forty days, is to also communicate with ancestors.
